Edgar Martin Daugherty, was born on June 19, 1935 to Roy Newton Daugherty and Malvina Annie New in Ausitn, Texas. After a courageous battle with cancer the Lord called him home on December 13, 2012 at the Legend Oaks Care and Rehabilitation Facility in Kyle, Texas.
Edgar was a graduate of William B. Travis High School Austin, Texas and shortly after joined the Army serving from 1958 to 1962 earning the rank of Pfc E-3. He served in the Berlin and Cuban Missile Crisis receiving an honorable discharge as a Disabled Veteran.
Edgar married Lois Elaine Franke on November 24, 1960. He became the loving father to James Martin Daugherty and Cheryl Ann Shelley. Edgar's career continued when he joined the Lower Colorado River Authority as a heavy equipment operator and retired after 33 years of service.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Lois of 52 years, son James Martin Daugherty (Jill) and Cheryl Ann Shelley(Parrish), six grandchildren Melissa Elaine Villarreal (Oscar), James Roy Daugherty (Jennifer), Matthew Wayne Malney, Lane Parrish Shelley. Brittany Ann Shelley and Trent Martin Shelley; five great grandchildren, Matthew, Alexis, Hunter, Makayla and Austin; two sisters Frances Kyle, Bodie Winkley (Joe) and brother Travis Daugherty (Celise); a number of nieces and nephews and a host of loving friends.
Edgar was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Malvina Daugherty and a brother, Roy Newton Daugherty,Jr.
The family expresses their appreciation and heartfelt thanks to the Odyssy Hospice staff and the Oaks Care and Rehabilitation Facility.
