George August Ball, 66, a resident of this community for 48 years, passed away at his home in Stanley Thursday evening. Death was attributed to a heart condition.
Born July 28, 1892 in Shobonier, Ill., he came to North Dakota in 1910. He served in World War I from 1917 to 1919.
Survivors include his wife, the former Esther O. Anderson, whom he married in Minot, N. D., Nov. 26, 1927; a daughter, Mrs. Gordon (Beverly) Rugland, Palermo; three sons, Donald of Stanley, Robert of New Town and Earl of Seattle, Wash.: five grandchildren, Judy and Juanita Ball and Vonee, Geraldine and Gregory Rugland; three brothers, Richard of Columbia Falls, Mont.; Forrest of White Earth and James of Stanley; two sisters. Mrs. Anton (Helen) Grothe of White Earth and Fern of Fairview, Mont. and eight nieces and nephews.
His parents, one sister (Vonee) Mrs. Fred Voss, Northgate, and one brother, Walter, proceeded him in death.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 30 at 2 p. m. in the First Baptist church in Stanley. Rev. J. S. Hefta officiated. Organist was Mrs. Edwin Strege and vocal soloist was Gordon Breding. The Rev, and Mrs. Hefta sang a duet.
Honorary pallbearers were A. H. Nelson, Ray Shoff, Gunder Rugland, Arthur Domaskin, Howard Winters, William Nelson, Magnus Havorson, J. J. Rued, Chas. Panzer, Peter Anderson, Chris Mahlum. Active pallbearers were Henry Strom, Kenneth Rugland, Haakon Halvorson, Kenneth Lystad, Melvin Enge, Moses Halvorson,
Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery in Stanley. American Legion military services were held in the church and at the cemetery.
