Mr. Cleston Reid Stewart Saylor, age 94 of Brodhead, widower of Mary (Cope) Saylor, passed away Sun. Dec. 9th, 2012 at Rockcastle Regional Hospital.
He entered this life on Nov. 4, 1918 in Copper Creek, Ky. a son of the late Elijah and Mahala Howard Saylor. Mr. Saylor was a long time Educator in the Rockcastle County School System for forty seven years. He was the first Principal of the Rockcastle High School from 1972-1987. He managed the Waterdogs softball team for twenty five years, while coaching the Waterdogs from 1965-1989 he had a total of 158 players, 1492 wins and 472 losses . He also coached all three sports in Jenkins Ky, from 1944-1951 with 387 wins and 144 losses. He was an avid sports fan; a member of the Brodhead Baptist Church, holding the position of Trustee; and served on the Board of Directors of Piney Grove Cemetery.
On July19, 1945 he was united in holy matrimony to Mary Rebecca Cope, who preceded him in death on Feb. 22, 2004, and from that union came three sons, E. Howard, John Boone and Cleston Anthony to bless their home.
He will be lovingly remembered by his three sons-E.Howard Saylor and wife Sharon (Childress) Saylor of Mt. Vernon, Ky; John Boone Saylor and wife Dr. Karen (Bullock) Saylor of Brodhead, Ky; and Cleston Anthony "Tony" Saylor and wife Rebecca (Elam) of Brodhead, Ky; Eight grandchildren-Johnathan Howard Saylor, Cleston Reid "Max"well Saylor, Mary Sheril Saylor, John L Saylor, Anthony Boone Saylor, Mahala Michelle Saylor, Brittany Nicole (Perkins) Saylor and Tanner Hayes Perkins. As well as a host of nieces/nephews, friends and neighbors.
Besides his parents Elijah and Mahala Saylor and wife Mary Rebecca Cope Saylor he was preceded in death by four brothers: John L Saylor, Howard Saylor, and Daniel Boone Saylor and Tony Saylor. One sister: Mary Whitaker.
Visitation for Mr. Cleston Reid Saylor will be held on, Tuesday December 11, 2012 at the Brodhead Baptist Church from 6pm to 9pm, also on December 12, 2012 from 10am to 2pm. Funeral services for Mr. Cleston Reid Stewart Saylor will conducted on Wednesday December 12, 2012 at 2pm at the Brodhead Baptist Church Bros. Dan Gutenson and Ralph Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the Piney Grove Cemetery.Casketbearers will be John McCreary, Clayton Cash, Ryan Riddle, David Pensol, David Collins , Casey Carroll and David Woodall.
