Sally Katherine McMikle
Sally Katherine McMikle age 96, a resident of East Prairie, Missouri died Sunday, May 25, 1997.
Born February 27, 1901 in New Madrid County, Missouri to the late William Marion and Mary (Patterson) Black, Sally was the youngest of seven children and the last surviving. A brother and sister; Lee "Otis" Black and Ada (Black) Wood preceded her in death. Half brothers and sisters to also precede her were; Willie Baker, Cora (Baker) Parker, Louie Allen and Mamie (Allen) Adams.
On February 23, 1919 Sally Katherine Black was united in marriage to Joseph Bernie McMikle. The young couple were married at the home of Sally's parents in New Madrid.
Joseph and Sally McMikle had seven children. Daughters, Doris Daniel, Margaret Shibley, Leola Roach and sons, Willard McMikle, Elgin McMikle and Billie Joe McMikle.
The family made their home in New Madrid on a farm prior to moving to East Prairie in 1956. Sally and Joseph helped assist their son and daughter-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Elgin McMikle, at the McMikle Funeral Home and Florist.
