Death of Mayress J. Sterling
It is our painful duty this week to announce the death of Mr. Mayress J. Sterling, aged 29 years, which occurred at the home of his parents, Mr. & Mrs. G. H. Sterling, on Tuesday evening, April 30th, at 8:30 o'clock, after an illness of only a few days.
Deceased was an exemplary young men, beloved and respected by all who knew him. On Tuesday evening of last week he went home from the mill, where he has worked for the past two years, as he was not feeling well, but did not call a physician until Saturday, when Dr. Coe of Waterville, the family physician, was called and pronounced it a bad case of pneumonia, and on Monday Dr. Schulz was called for counsel, but he could see small hopes of his recovery.
His sudden death hs cast a gloom over this whole community in which he was born and grew to manhood; and he being thus taken in the prime of life is a very sad blow to his aged parents and brothers and sisters, all of whom were at his bedside with the exception of his brother, Emory; who is living at Omaha, Neb., and had not arrived.
Deceased was a member of Sakatah Lodge A. F. & A. M. of Waterville, under whose auspices he was laid to his last long rest in Cedar Hill cemetery on Thursday by a large throng of morning brothers, who feel they have lost one of the flowers of their fraternity. His end was peace.
