----------
Jesse lived with his parents on their farm in Monroe County, Kentucky, during his youth. His younger brother James A Hayes (1836-1913), lived there too and and resided there until his passing.

Marriage--

In July 1851, in Monroe County, Kentucky, Jessie married his lifelong helpmate and spouse, Nancy Jane (nee- Frazier) Hays (born 23 Feb 1834 Monroe County, KY - died before 1900 Sullivan County, MO).

The children of this marriage (known to this compiler at this time)--

* Richard "Dick" Hays (born about 1851 in Blair, NE) This child is reported by family member Jeannette Scott {my mother's younger sister}; however, no further info has been found on this child. He may have died in Nebraska. It is unknown how or why Jesse may have moved his new bride to Nebraska, especially after living his whole life in Monroe County, KY; and furthermore, why he moved back to Monroe County, KY, by 1952.)

* Mary Elizabeth "Ellen" (nee- Hays) See (14 Jun 1852 Monroe County, KY- 11 Oct 1925 MO)
* Minerva Frances (ne- Hays) Bennett (25 Dec 1853 Monroe County, KY-10 Apr 1935 OK) {NOTE: Minerva is my maternal 1st great grandmother}
* Henry Preston Hays (8 Apr 1855 Monroe County, KY-21 Dec 1940 NE)
* James Linzey Hays (21 Dec 1857 Monroe County, KY-5 May 1940 Sullivan County, MO)
* Enoch Payne Hays (24 Mar 1859 Monroe County, KY-after 1870 maybe in NE)
* Abbygale/Abigail Frances (nee- Hays) Yardley (2 Feb 1861 Monroe County, KY-10 Jul 1911 Sullivan County MO)

-----
By 1870, Jesse moved his spouse and growing family from Monroe County, Kentucky to Sullivan County, Missouri.

In June 1880, Jessie (age 48)and his wife Nancy were living on their farm in Buchanan, Sullivan, Missouri. Jesse's mother Mary lived with him then, and until her death in 1891 -- (Mary "Polly" (nee- Payne) Hays, widowed, age 71, buried in Payne Cemetery, Sullivan County, MO.)

Also in June 1880, living on the neighboring farm, was Jesse's married son James Linzey Hays (age 22) and his wife Lenora 'Nora" (nee- Eggman) Hays (age 18).

By 1900, Jesse had lost his mother (Mary "Poly" (nee- Payne) Hays) and his wife (Nancy Jane (nee- Frazier) Hays). Jesse (age 69) is living with his daughter (Minerva Frances (nee- Hays) Bennett), and her husband (James Jones Bennett), and their children in Jackson, Sullivan, Missouri. Jesse's son James Linzey Hays (divorced, and working as stock buyer/seller) is also living there within his older sister Minerva Frances' household.

In 1910, Jesse is still living with his daughter Minerva. However, Minerva and her spouse James Jones Bennett have moved from Sullivan County, Missouri, to Alfalfa County, Oklahoma.

In 1920, Jesse (age 89) is still living with his daughter Minerva and her family, but now in Harper County, Kansas.

Jesse passed away in the home of his daughter Minerva and her spouse James Jones Bennett.
-----
Jesse's daughter Minerva Frances (nee- Hays) Bennett and her husband James Jones Bennett lived for many years on their farm in Rosedale, Alfalfa County, Oklahoma. While there they were active in the Rosedale Church of Christ as builders, founders, members, and James as an "Elder". The Rosedale Cemetery is behind the Rosedale Church of Christ; a Church that was such a large part of their lives and the lives of their children, and neighbors. The Rosedale Cemetery is now their final "resting place."

Minerva's children attended the Rosedale School, and her spouse James Jones Bennett was a school director and officer (about 1903-1915).
