Eddie R. Gildon, 67, of Victoria, died Friday, Sept. 6, 2002. He was born Sept. 13, 1934, in Victoria, to the late Ed and Esther McCoy Tarver Gildon.

He was a owner and operator of Eddie's Tile. He served on the trustee board at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, where he was also deacon and member. He was a board member of the African American Chamber of Commerce.

Survivors: wife, Anna Eldridge Gildon; daughter, Rose Ward of Lake Jackson; sons, Michael Gildon of Fairfield. Calif., Robert Gildon and Anthony Gildon, both of Victoria, and Dennis Gildon of Morgandown. W Va.; sisters, Mildred Tarver, Rita Thorn and Billie Jo Gildon, all of Austin, Seletia Davis and Margie Hicks, both of San Diego, Calif.; brothers, George Edward Gildon of Austin and Kurt Gildon of Dallas; 16 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Preceded in death by: parents; sister, Ruth Bracy; and brother, John Tarver.

Visitation will be 8-8 p.m. Tuesday at Rosewood Rineral Chapels. Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, the Rev. Fred Hobbs officiating.

Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
