Rosa Sophia (Schneider) Bausch

Mrs. Rosa Sophia Bausch, 88-year-old resident of Atkinson, died at her home in this city at 2:40 o'clock Monday afternoon, Oct. 25. She had been in ill health for about a year.

Mrs. Bausch was the widow of the late Philip Bausch who operated a blacksmith shop in Atkinson from 1915 until his death in 1928. They came to this community 54 years ago and lived on a farm until 1915, when they moved to town.

Mrs. Bausch resided in the south part of town with her son Charles.

Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the Seger Funeral Home in Atkinson. The Rev. E. G. Hughes, pastor of the Methodist Church, conducted the rites. Burial was in Woodlawn cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Mrs. Bausch's grandsons, Herman and Harold Bausch, both of Leigh, Glenn Lawrence of Central City, Oscar Hall of Leigh, Bert Lawrence and Don Saltz both of Atkinson.

Obituary.

Rosa Sophia Schneider was born at Marengo, Ia., on March 29, 1864. She was a daughter of George and Regina Schneider.

She was united in marriage to Philip Bauschat Watkins, Ia., August 25, 1882 and they went to Miller, S.D., in that year to make their home. After living at Miller for 16 years, they moved to a farm north of Atkinson, Neb., in 1898. Philip ran a blacksmith shop here until his death July 18, 1928.

Mrs. Bausch died October 27, 1952, at the age of 88 years, 6 months and 27 days She was the last surviving member of a family of eight children, three brothers and four sisters having preceded her in death. A daughter, Martha, also preceded her in death at the age of a year and a half.

She is survived by one daughter and four sons. They are Mrs. Albert J. (Caroline) Lawrence, Sr., Weaver and Charles Bausch, all of Atkinson, Forest Bauschof Monrovia, Calif., and Edward Bausch of Leigh. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Coming from a distance to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Ed Bausch. Harold Bausch, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Bausch and Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Hall, all of Leigh , and Glenn Lawrence of Central City.
