Sarah Armina Durant was born in Athens Co, Ohio, Nov 23rd, 1851, died of heart failure Friday morning, Nov 4th, 1898, being 47 years, one month and 19 days old. She was of French descent. The deceased was married to Owen Calvin Basnett at Stanford, McLean Co, Illinois, on March 21st 1875. To this union was born three, one girl and two boys. She leaves to mourn her loss an affectionate husband and three children, one brother and two sisters at Brimfield and Joliet, Ill. From Illinois they moved to Cloud Co, Kansas, in 1878, thence to Ness Co in 1881, where they lived until 1895, when they moved back to Cloud Co, their present home. She joined the Methodist Church before she was married. She carried a first class church letter from where she had formerly belonged, which was destroyed at the time their home was consumed by fire in May, 1895. The shock she received at that time rendered her an invalid and a painful but patient sufferer from heart trouble. She gave her last instructions to her husband as calm as if there wasn't such a thing as death. She said she would welcome death with a smile. She designated her place of burial the Delphos Cemetery. At the time of her death her son Thomas was 28 miles from home and Bert was in West Virginia. She always wished that she might die easy and at 5:20 Friday morning she passed away as quietly as if sleeping.
