Nels August Anderson was born in Krianstads, Lua Skane, Sweden, January 30, 1859. He came to America in the spring of 1882. In 1885 he settled on the farm three miles southeast of Ong, where he spent the remainder of his life. He passed away January 6, 1941, at the farm home.

He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Sweden at the usual age. He was united in marriage to Anna Gustafson in July, 1891, and to this union were born four children, two sons and two daughters. One son, Arthur died in infancy, his wife Anna, died in 1913 and one daughter, Hulda, passed away in 1936. He outlived his wife twenty-eight years to the day. Left to mourn his departure are one son, Edwin of Ong, one daughter, Anna Hayes of Benton, Kas., seven grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Thursday, January 9, at 1;30 at the home and at 2 at the church with Rev. A. W. Anderson in charge. A quartet, Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Peterson, Mrs. Harry Pearson and Harold Swanson sang with Mrs. Algot Peterson at the piano. "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" was sung at the home. "Nearer, Still Nearer," "There is a Gate That Stands Ajar" and "We Shall Sleep but not Forever" were the songs used at the church service.

Pallbearers were Clarence, Ralph and Ernest McCloughan, John Pearson, Oscar and Herbert Johnson. Interment was in the Stockholm Cemetery.
