Born May 27, 1932 in Kokomo, IN to Norman L. and Rena O. (West)Shackelford, she married Bert E. Markum on Jan. 27, 1948, in Peoria. He survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Barry (and Carrie) of Edwards and Joe (and Kathy) of St. Louis; three brothers, Norman (and Ruth)Shackelford of Peoria, Thomas Shackelford of Milwaukee and Charles Shackelford of Tucson, Ariz,; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Floyd in 1950; three sisters; and one brother.
She was a peer mentor for Gateway Human Services Center in Peoria for two years, last working in May 2001.
