He is born as Kornelis Lukkes in March 1857 in the village Idskenhuizen in the mid southwestern part of the Dutch northern province Friesland, named for his grandfather Kornelis Jitzes Lukkes. His parents are Jitze Kornelis Lukkes and Trijntje Jelkes Sietzema.

He married on 22 May 1881 at Heerenveen, in the midsouthern part of the Dutch northern province Friesland, at the age of 24 years to the one year younger Antje Bosma.

In 1900 Cornelius Lucas resided with his wife Anna in the former village Salesville, Gallatin County, in the southwestern part of Montana.

In May 1904 his wife Anna died at the age of 46 years in Gallatin County.
After her death he returned to the Netherlands, province Friesland, and remarried on 18 June 1910 at Heerenveen to the 14 years younger Geeske Hoekstra.

On 15 May 1910 his brother Jelke Lukkes emigrated with his wife and their three children Hidde, Kornelis and Trijntje from the Friesian northwestern municipality Het Bildt to the USA. They lived in Montana, Gallatin County, Cornelius' residence too between at least 1900 and at least 1904.

Kornelis Lukkes died in March 1928 in the city of Groningen at the age of 71 years, husband of Geeske Hoekstra, but resided then in the village Oudeschoot, just south of the town Heerenveen in the midsouth of the province Friesland.
