Leonard "Dale" Brawner, 87, passed away at his home. Dale was born to Herbert and Essie Brawner. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1943 serving as a radio airman in the Pacific through 1946. Dale took pride in seeing, while aboard ship, the raising of the American flag by the Marines at Iwo Jima. Dale was preceded in death by his first wife
of 54 years, Lucille Brawner, in 2004.

FORT WORT, TEXAS - LEONARD "DALE" BRAWNER PASSED AWAY -
Leonard "Dale" Brawner FORT WORTH, TX. — Leonard "Dale" Brawner, 87, retired from General Dynamics, passed away at his home on Saturday, December 1st 2012.

Funeral: will be at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Laurel Land Memorial Chapel. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Laurel Land Funeral Home.

Dale was born September 22, 1925; in Joshua to Herbert and Essie Brawner. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Dale enlisted in the Navy in 1943 serving as a radio airman in the Pacific through 1946.

Dale took pride in witnessing, while aboard ship, the raising of the American flag by the Marines at Iwo Jima. He led a successful career at General Dynamics (now Lockheed
Martin) with technical assignments on the B-36, B-58, F-111 and the F-16. Dale's career culminated as a lead engineer in the Product Support Department where he was nicknamed "Mr. Product Support" due to his passion for assisting technicians around the world solve complex F-16 flight control system issues. Dale's exemplary service was recognized as an inductee into the General Dynamics "Employee Hall of Fame" before his retirement in 1991.

Dale was also known for his sense of humor telling, how "he was born in a cabin that he and his father built back when the Dead Sea was merely sick." Dale enjoyed many activities over the years with a passion for announcing Joshua High School football games. Dale led an active retirement with his family, friends and fellow comrades.

Dale was preceded in death by his first wife of 54 years, Lucille Brawner, in 2004. SURVIVORS: His wife, Marie Ahrens Brawner; sons, Len Brawner and wife, Gail, Bob Brawner and wife, Kay, Mark Brawner and wife, Karen; and grandchildren, Kristy, Callie, Mitch, Brad and Tracie; and extended family members.
