Died at Petersburg, Virginia, near Boydton Plank Road

Civil War Service - He enlisted Oct 5 1861 age 24 at Camp Hutchins, Warren, Ohio. He was first assigned as a Private with Co I, 6th Ohio Cavalry. He was promoted to Sergant Major with HQ Co on Dec 16 1861. He wss promoted to 2nd Lt Co B on Oct 20 1862. He was promoted to 1st Lt Jan 29 1863. He was promoted to Captain, Co G May 9 1864. He was killed during the battle of Boydton Plank Road, near Petersburg, Virginia on Oct 27 1864

(He is not listed in any census for Randolph, Ohio in 1850 or 1860. It is possible he gave a false birth date when he enlisted. There is a Duan S Austin b ~1843, son of Hiram Austin 1850 & 1860 census. There are at least 4 families of Austins who were living in Randolph at that time none have Eusebius listed.)
