Elsie DeWitt, 91, passed away Saturday, March 11, 2017, in McGregor, Texas. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 14, at Cole Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 15, at College Avenue Baptist Church in McGregor. Interment will follow in the McGregor Cemetery.

Elsie was born in Port Lavaca, Texas, to the late Eddie Morris and Lucille (Sheffield) Yeats. She was a longtime resident of McGregor and a member of College Avenue Baptist Church. She graduated in 1962 from Mary Hardin Baylor in Belton and also attended Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, Texas. Elsie taught for 25 years in the McGregor Independent School District and retired in 1987. Elsie was also a member of the McGregor garden club and Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Earl DeWitt; sisters, Violet Williams and Fannie Brown; and brother, C.W. Yeats.

Survivors include her daughters, Marcia Bennett, of Waco, and Marla Moss and husband, Danny, of Richmond; son, Jimmy DeWitt and wife, Terri, of Georgetown; grandchildren: Jacob Moss and wife, Ashley, Phillip Moss and wife, Melissa, Thomas Moss, Rebekah Moss, John Bennett and wife, Amy, Michael DeWitt and wife, Joanna, and Matthew DeWitt; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
