Gerald (Gerry) D. Baker, of Cathedral City, CA, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday November 27, 2012. Gerry was born to Robert Baker and Jomanda (Betty Jo) Fowler Baker February 19, 1948 in Mountain View, MO.

Gerry attended Willard Schools and graduated in 1966. He furthered his education at SMS (MSU) in Springfield and graduated with a BS in music. Gerry was active in the music department and toured with a USO group from SMS. After college he joined the Navy. Upon leaving the Navy he chose California as his new home.

He spent his adult life in Southern California, Utah and Baja Mexico having lived in Long Beach, Huntington Beach, Cathedral City, Salt Lake City and Rosarita Beach, California.Gerry's early career was in accounting in California and Utah. While In Utah he went to work for Western Air which became part of Delta Airlines. Gerry had retired from Delta. His affiliation with Delta enabled him to travel extensively and he had traveled much of the world.

Gerry leaves behind his life-long partner of 38 years Gregory Widner of Cathedral City, CA, three brothers and three sisters: Kenny (Betty) Republic, MO, Susie Dowler(Bob) Branson, MO, Ted, Springfield, MO, Anita Fittro(Loren), Branson, MO, Teresa Perryman, Springfield, MO and Jeffrey, Willard,MO, ten nieces and nephews and a host of great nieces, nephews and friends all over the US. And one ill-tempered schnauzer, Lilly.

Gerry had a life-long love of horses and had owned many from an early age with a special place in his heart for the Arabian Horse.

Gerry was a warm-hearted and happy person who was always willing to lend a hand to family or friends and to join or start a party.

He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.

At Gerry's request his body has been cremated and ashes will be spread in Long Beach and Missouri.

A celebration of his life will be announced at a later date.
