Ruth Barron Schmidlap
Mrs. Ruth Schmidlap, age 94, of 2845 Windridge Dr., Madison, passed away at 10 pm, Friday, May 17, 1991 at Clifty Falls Convalescent Center. Born May 3, 1897 in Seymour, In., she was the daughter of William and Mary (Jordan) Barron, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Schmidlap, in 1951, three sons, Glen E. Schmidlap, in 1990, William Charles Schmidlap, Jr., in 1926, and Clarence Caleb Schmidlap in 1919; two sisters and three brothers. Mrs. Schmidlap was retired from the Food Service Department at Kings Daughters Hospital. She was a member of Kent Christian Church where her great grandfather, Peter Jordan, was one of the founders of the church in 1830.
Survivors included two daughters, Helen Eppley, Madison, Elsie Moore, Kent; one son, Leon Schmidlap, Kent; eleven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, one niece and one nephew. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Joe McKay and Rev. Gary Snowden at 1 pm, Tuesday, May 21, 1991 at the Kent Christian Church with interment in Kent Cemetery. Friends may call at the Vail-Holt Funeral Home, Madison Chapel from 4 - 8 pm. (today), Monday, May 20, 1991 and after 11 am Tuesday at the church. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Kent Christian Church Building Fund. Cards will be available at the funeral home.
