Elizabeth Witherspoon, daughter of William and Mary Witherspoon, was born November 25, 1789 in Ireland and came soon afterward to America. She grew to womanhood at Frankfort Springs, Pennsylvania and there married James Allison who was born November 13, 1787, and who was reared in Beaver County, Pennsylvania. They were married February 21, 1817 and settled on a farm in Pennsylvania. In 1833 the Allison family moved to Ohio settling on a farm near Scroggsfield in Fox Township, Carroll County. Mr. Allison also bought the mill property near Wattsville and carried on that business in addition to his farming until his death September 21, 1867.
Elizabeth died June 28, 1884 at Carrollton, Ohio. Both are buried at Scroggsfield, near Carrollton.

Mrs. Elizabeth Allison [died] at Wm. Boyd's residence, June 28, 1884,--aged 94 years.
