Doris was born on August 11, 1928 in Darlington County. She was the daughter of the late Elijah Lide Marshall and Fannie Mixon Marshall. She graduated from Hartsville High School and was employed by Dixie Cup (Georgia Pacific) for many years. Mrs. Byrd was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Phillips Sunday School Class and the Ethel Williamson Circle.
Surviving are her daughter, Linda (Jimmie) Williams of Darlington; her son, Jamie (Elaine) Byrd of Darlington; her four grandchildren, Melissa McClatchey of Darlington; Merrie Leigh (Jody) Blaylock of Hartsville; Elizabeth Cooper of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; and Sarah Williams of Spartanburg, SC; five great grandchildren; her sister and brother-in-law, Louise and RL Clanton of Hartsville and a number of loving nieces and nephews and a special friend, Florrie T. Lighty of Hartsville.
She was preceded in death by her son, Marshall Byrd.
