Sylvia Alice Hanson was born May 22, 1914, the daughter of Ole and Karine (Furua) Hanson, in Baudette, MN, where she graduated from high school. She trained in Duluth to be a registered nurse. She briefly served as a Lieutenant in the US Army Nurse Corps, before being diagnosed with tuberculosis. During her recuperation, she met Ervin Moen. She and Ervin married on July 4, 1943, in Baudette.
They lived in Duluth, where she worked for St. Luke's Hospital until retiring. Ervin Moen died in 1977. She returned to Baudette where she married Arthur Murray on July 16, 1978. He died a few months later. She married Albin Anderson on March 26, 1984. He died in 1998
Sylvia was a wonderful mother and friend. She was a fun loving and happy spirited lady who was much loved by all who knew her.
Sylvia is survived by daughters, Karen (Lou) Wydo, Spokane, WA, and Anne Moen (Dean Pichotto), Oakland, CA; sons Fredrick (Judy), Duluth; Richard, Yakima, WA; and Robert (Patricia), Spokane, WA; five grandchildren; and brothers, Leon(Florence)Hanson, Baudette, and Clarence (Gertrude) Hanson, Indianapolis.
Services were held at First Lutheran Church, Baudette, MN and interment was in Sunrise Cemetery, Duluth, MN.
