PETER ACKERSON, 90, DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS
Special To The Hawk-Eye.
. Oquawka, Ill., Feb. 24.- Peter Akerson, one of Oquawka's oldest citizens passed away Sunday morning at the Mercy hospital at Burlington, where he was taken on Feb. 10 for treatment. Mr. Akerson has been in frail health for a number of years.
. Mr. Akerson was born in Sweden, Nov. 5, 1840 and came to America when a young man. He has lived in Oquawka a great number of years. He Is a veteran of the Civil war and was one of the remaining few veterans here. He leaves no relatives and for the last year had lived with Mr. and Mrs. Jno. Jones who cared for him.
. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Presbyterian church in Oquawka, in charge of the Daughters of Veterans. Burial was in Oquawka cemetery.
