Musician. Born in Louisville. At the age of 16, he moved to New York and went to work as a dishwasher. After being fascinated with jazz, he went on to study in The New York School of Music and after dropping out, he decided to pursue his music career on his own. Following his stay in California, he return to New York to start his career and went to work as a session musician with rhythm and blue artists such as Ray Charles, Louis Jordan and Big Joe Turner. In 1954, he met Sylvia Robinson and went on to collaborate with her forming a duo called "Mickey and Sylvia" after being influenced by Les Paul and Mary Ford. In 1958, the duo disbanded and he went on to continue his music career, releasing his first solo album one year later. In 1965, he moved to France to continue his music career as a session musician and worked with French artists such as Ronnie Bird and Chantal Goya. In addition to his music career, he wrote books about guitar. He continued his career recording and touring until he retired.
