Services for Jack Black of Palestine and formerly of Overton, were at 3 p.m. at the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home Chapel in Overton with the Rev. Ronnie Glover officiating.

He was born to the late John C. and Ida Henson Black.

He was a longtime resident of Overton until moving to Palestine four months ago.

He was a loving father and grandfather. He was a great man of God who lived a fulfilling life. He provided for his family doing the things he loved most as a private investigator and as head security guard for LeTournea University and Pinkerton.

Mr. Black was a member of the Bible Baptist Church of Overton.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Ricky Black.

He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Alecia and Jeffrey Cooper of Palestine; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Johnny and Cora Black of Aquilla, Jacky Black of Turnertown and Howard and Rene Black of Kilgore; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were J.R. Black, James William Black, Howard Black, Carl Warner, Jason Black and Alex Beck. Honorary pallbearer was Joshua Black.
