"CHAFFER—In this city, March 8th. Nina Chaffer, a native of Alton, Illinois, aged 22 years, 3 months and 28 days. Friends and acquaintances are respectfully invited to attend the funeral this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, from 2228 K street."
Parents: Richard Chaffer (b. 1837-1838 in Appleby, Lincolnshire, England; d. 1877 in Nevada City, Nevada County, California) and Margaret A. Moore (b. 1844 in England or Louisiana, d. 1923 in Sacramento, California).
Interment records of Sacramento City Cemetery, indicate Nina Chaffer died from phthisis, defined as wasting away, due to pulmonary tuberculosis.
