Clarabell Lansing was a Chief flight attendant for Aloha Airlines. On April 28, 1988, Lansing was working Aloha Flight 243 from Hilo, Hawaii, to Honolulu when soon after takeoff the aircraft suffered an explosive decompression and lost approximately 1/3 of its roof. When the decompression occurred, Lansing was reportedly standing at row 5. Her body was never recovered.

In 1996 the Lansing Memorial Garden was inaugurated at Honolulu International Airport's Interisland Terminal.
