BOOK: Genealogical History of Deacon Stephen Hart and His Descendants 1632-1875, by Alfred Andrews, (published 1875), p. 206: "792. Brookfield, Trumbull County, O. Bliss HART, Burlington, third son of Simeon HART, of Southington, and his wife Sarah (SLOPER), born March 10th, 1761 at Southington, and went to Burlington with his parents in 1774; married May 17th, 1783, Sylvia UPSON, born August 20th, 1765. He was a magistsrate, and removed to Brookfield, Trumbull county, Ohio. He entered the continental army in 1777, at the age of 15 years, was in a number of hard-fought battles, and after much hardship, privation, and suffering, was discharged, May, 1780. He was a man of strong powers of mind, was much respected, and had much influence in the church, town and society of Burlington, which he represtented at six sessions of the General Assembly--1811 to 1813--and was a member of the convention to form the Constitution. He died in Brookfield, March 6th, 1831, aged 70 years, and was buried there. His widow died August 20th, 1865, aged 89 years."

(This Company was designated at various times as Captain Samuel Mattock's, Captain Daniel Barns' and Captain Benton's Company.) Date of enlistment: May 26, 1777. Term 3 years. Promoted Music (Fife & Drum) December 13, 1777, discharged May 26th 1780." (May 1777 - Jul 1778: Commanded by Col. John Chandler); (July - Oct 1778: Commanded by Major Joseph Hait); (Nov 1778 - Nov 1779: Commanded by Colonel Giles Russel in the 1st Company in the 8th Connecticut Battalion); (Nov 1779 - May 1780: Capt. Asahel Hodge's Co., 8th Connecticut Regiment, Commanded by Lieut. Col. Isaac Sherman).
