RUSSELL SITES
Russell C. Sites was born in Roanoke, Ind., March 5, 1905. The family moved to Kansas in 1910 to a farm near Grinnell, where he attended country school in the farm vicinity and high school in Grinnell.

He was united in marriage to Matilda Purma and to this union a son, Donald, was born.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star, the Masonic Lodge, Consistory and Shrine.

He served Gove County as chairman of the Republican party for several years, and in 1948 was elected to the Kansas State Legislature where he served two terms.

He spent his entire life on the farm in the Grinnell community and was active in many phases of community affairs. He recently retired from active farming but still maintained an interest in all its functions.

He was preceded in death by his parents. three brothers and one sister.

He leaves his wife, Matilda; his son Donald and daughter-in-law, Alberta; two grandchildren, Dalen and Marla; his brothers Carl and his wife Laura, Alhambra, Calif., a sister-in-law, Mrs. Wendell Sites, Colby, Kans., and several nieces, nephews and relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held May 19, 1974, at the Grinnell United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Paul Mundell, officiating. Burial was in the Grinnell Cemetery.
