CANDLER - Alta Florence Bryson, 87, of Owenby Road, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at her home.
A native of Jackson County, Mrs. Bryson had resided in Buncombe County for the past 60 years. She was a homemaker, and was a member of Yellow Mountain Baptist Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed.
Mrs. Bryson was the daughter of the late Spurgeon Van and Erna Stewart Childers, and was the wife of the late Arnold Garvin Bryson. She was also preceded in death by seven brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are her children: Randall Garvin Bryson and wife Hazel, and Linda Morgan, all of Candler; grandchildren: April Thomas, Kevin Morgan, Heather Mallard, Tracie Tuscona, Johnny Freeman, Jerry Rogers, and Tonya Riggins; great-grandchildren: Keith Thomas, Cody Mallard, T.J. Mallard, Malachi Morgan, Alana Tuscona and Carley Tuscona; brothers: Clell Childers of Arden and Charlie Childers of Sylva; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jeff Massey and Rev. James Hutchinson officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 9:30-11:00 AM Monday at the funeral home.
The family wishes to extend a special "Thank You" to the staff of Four Seasons Hospice, as well as April and Will Thomas, who were caregivers.
