Arthur was born in Lexington and lived there most of his life until his family moved to the Valley Station area.
He enlisted in the Marines 5 July 1967, at a Louisville Recruiting Office.
Arthur arrived in Vietnam 16 December 1967 and was assigned to the 1st Platoon of Hotel Company, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division. The platoon was in the process of establishing their night defensive position, when a hostile booby trapped mine was detonated. Arthur and another Marine died as result of multiple fragmentation wounds to the head and body.
Arthur was single and served his country for 6 months and 12 days and was KIA #20,269.
He had been in Vietnam for 1 month and 1 day.
Survived by his mother; Nancy Lucille Jones Singleton and his brother; Richard of 11006 Deering Road, Valley Station, KY.

Father; Arthur L Singleton was deceased.
