John F. "Jack" Welch Sr., 70, Punta Gorda, died April 6, 2003. He was born Oct. 22, 1932, in Boston and came to Punta Gorda in 1982 from that area. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was an asbestos worker in Boston for many years before retiring. He was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ. Survivors include daughters Jean Kerivan of Quincy, Mass., Nancy Ralph of South Bridgewater, Mass., and Maureen Batres of Plymouth, Mass.; a son, John "Jackie" Jr. of South Boston, Mass.; several brothers and sisters; and 10 grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Punta Gorda. Larry Taylor and Cremation Services of Punta Gorda is in charge.
