Estherville – Services for Mrs. Clarence (Doris) Ahrens, 65, will be held Thursday, 10:30 a.m. at the Henry and Olson Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Norbert Hellrud, (brother-in-law of Clarence) of Elkhorn, Wis. officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery. She died Monday, Sept. 3, 1984 at Holy Family Hospital.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Wednesday.
Doris Elaine Welfare was born March 17, 1919 at Ledyard, the daughter of James and Edna (Brown) Welfare. She attended Ledyard School where she graduated from high school. On Aug. 22, 1945 she was united in marriage with Eldon Bonnicksen at Mankato, Minn. On Feb. 5, 1973 she married Clarence Ahrens at Las Vegas, Nev. She lived most of her life in Estherville where she was employed by the J.C. Penney Co. for 12 years.
Survivors include her husband, Clarence, Estherville; one son and daughter-in-law Terry and Deanna Bonnicksen, Fairmont; grandchildren Heather, Dawn, Brandon and Matthew Bonnicksen; a stepson, Frederic Ahrens, Tampa, Fla. and step-daughter Nickola Ahrens, Miami, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Eldon Bonnicksen who died in 1965. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 5, 1984)
