On January 27, 1899, at 4:45 A.M., JAMES A., aged 40 years, beloved husband of Ellen Jane Merritt.
Second son of the late Thomas H. and Eliza A. Merritt, of Anne Arundel County, Maryland.

O, how sweet it will be in that beautiful land,
So free from all sorrow and pain.
With songs on our lips and harps in our hands,
To meet one another again.

The relatives and friends of the family are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Patapsco M. E. Church, Baltimore County, Maryland, this Monday, January 23, at 2:30 P.M.

The funeral of Mr. James A. Merritt took place yesterda afternoon from his residence in Patapsco Neck, near Bear Creek. Services were conducted by Rev. W.W. Barnes, Pastor of the Canton Street Methodist Episcopal Church. Rev. W. F. Roberts assisted at the Patapsco Methodist Episcopal Church.
The pallbearers were H. F. Hopkins, P. W. Stansbury, George L. Stansbury, John P. Gray, H. Eiglehart and H. C. Hudson. The interment was made in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
