Batts was the daughter of Sarah Benjamin Jefferson and Andrew Batts AKA John Covington Morris who supposedly killed his uncle-leading him to change his name to Andrew Batts and causing utter chaos for his divorced wife, Sarah, to obtain a Civil War pension. There is apparently a 300 page widow's Civil War Pension out there with tons of information.
