Virginia K. Peters, 96, passed away Friday, Feb. 18, 2011, at Homewood of Williamsport, where she had been a resident since 1984.

Born June 17, 1914, in Greencastle, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Frank B. and Clara Hellane Knode.

She was retired from Second National Bank of Hagerstown, where she became the first female bank teller in Hagerstown.

She was a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Williamsport.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold E. Peters, in 1999; stepson, David F. Peters; sisters, Edna Culver and Pearl Higdon; and brother, Charles Knode.

She is survived by stepson, H. Edward Peters of Hagerstown; stepdaughter, Jane W. Peters of Richmond, Va.; stepgranddaughters, Catherine Svoboda of Rye, N.Y., and Elizabeth Aldridge of Durham, N.C.; nieces, Carolyn Shopp of Arizona, Delores Culver of Pennsylvania and Penny Smith of Hagerstown; and nephew, William McClanahan of Minnesota.

A memorial service will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Homewood of Williamsport.
