Gusta Bert Walworth, son of Levi and Sarah Jane Walworth was born Oct. 12, 1879 near Des Moines and passed away at his home near Dow City on Jan. 10.
On Dec. 24, 1902, he was united in marriage to Maye Hain. To this union eight children were born. A daughter, LeRoyce died in infancy.
Besides the widow, five daughters and two sons survive, namely Mrs. Opal Crampton of Wall Lake, Mrs. Joy Meents of Omaha, Mrs. Evelyn McMahon, Mrs. Thelma Brasel, Mrs. Lucille Linderman of Dow City, Burton Walworh of Kansas City, Mo., and Verlin F. at home. Also two sisters, Julia Bennett of Farmington, Ill., and a twin sister, Gertrude of El Monte, Calif., two brothers, Will of Fairbury, Neb. and Art of Oakland, Calif., and eleven grandchildren. His parents, one sister, Winnie Dwyer, and one brother, Edwin, preceded him in death.
In his younger days he spent some time at Lincoln, Neb., being employed in a furniture store. Except for these few years, he has lived in Crawford county near Denison, Buck Grove and Dow City, where he was engaged in farming. Mr. Walworth united with the Methodist church years ago and at the time of his death was a member of the Dow City Methodist church.
Mr. Walworth passed away suddenly while doing the morning chores at his farm home Saturday, Jan. 10.
Services were held at the First Methodist church in Dow City on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. conducted by Rev. Louis H. Joslin and Fay Marriott.
