She was a junior at Saluda High School and a member of Beta Club. She received the Presidential Award for outstanding academic achievement and was a member of Stillwaters Baptist Church. She was also a part-time employee of Parkman's Pharmacy and Farm House Restaurant.
She died in a car accident. A pickup truck ran a stop sign, hit her car, then flipped over on top of it. Her 14-year-old cousin Brandon was also in the car at the time and received critical injuries. The driver of the pickup and his passenger both survived.
