Joel Benjamin Henry, 87, of Sebago, Maine, formerly of Sudbury, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007, at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua, NH.
He was the husband of 61 years to Dorothy (Bauman) Henry.
Son of Leon M. and Mary (Cook) Henry, he graduated from Concord High School, Class of 1941. After high school, he attended Kent State University and earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration.
He served during World War II in the U.S. Navy, from August 1942 to December 1945, as a radar 1st Class Petty Officer on the U.S.S. Charles Lawrence D.E. escort ship and U.S.S. Topeka light cruiser.
After returning from the war, he worked for the Goodyear Tire Rubber Company in Detroit, Mich., from 1950 to 1959. He then worked as a contract administrator in Akron, Ohio, for Goodyear Aircraft. He retired from Commonwealth Gas in Southborough as a dealer representative in 1984.
He was a Mason, an Elk, a Lion, a Shriner and a member of the Sudbury and Concord Militia. He was also a member of the Naples Country Club in Naples, Maine, and the United Methodist Church in Sudbury, and Sebago, Maine.
He lived his retirement years on Sebago Lake, and his hobbies were skiing, remote control aircraft, boating, golf, bowling and bridge.
Burial in Wadsworth Cemetery, Sudbury.
