GLEN ROCK – F. Bernard "Nardy" Shaffer, 80, died Monday December 6, 2004, at his home. He was the husband of Helen (Strine) Shaffer.
Following cremation by the Geiple Funeral Home, Inc., 53 Main Street, Glen Rock, a graveside memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Hanover Street, Glen Rock, with the Rev. Karl Fetterman, officiating.
Mr. Shaffer was born June 12, 1924, in Hanover, a son of the late Ralph W. and Myrtle E. (Bailey) Shaffer.
He retired in 1984 as a Crew Chief with Met Ed Electric Company, where he was employed for over 30 years.
Mr. Shaffer was a graduate of Glen Rock High School and was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, serving on the USS California.
He was a member of the Immanuel United Methodist Church; the Austin L. Grove American Legion Post #403; and was an avid hunter and member of the Glen Yore Hunting Camp in Clinton County.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Shaffer leaves a son, Greg A. Shaffer and his wife Carolyn Shaffer of Glen Rock; two grandsons, Trent A. Shaffer and his wife, Margaret, and Matt A. Shaffer and his wife, Stacy; and three great-grandchildren.
