Services for Lewis L. Alkire, 81, of 2081 Hudson St., who died Saturday at Veterans Administration Hospital, were Tuesday at Chapel of the Chimes. Private cremation followed.
Born in Lafayette, Ind., Jan. 9, 1877, Alkire came to Denver in 1904. He owned and operated a drug store at S. Broadway and Iowa Ave. for 30 years before his retirement several years ago.
Alkire was a member of South Gate Lodge 138, AF&AM; Electa Chapter of Order of the Eastern Star; El Jebel Shrine, Colorado Consistory 1 Commandery, Knights Templar and the National Retail Druggists Assn. He was a veteran of World War I.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth, Long Beach, Calif.
