Mrs. Edwin Phelan, 83, of 1027
First Ave. SE, died Monday at
Sacred Heart hospital after sever-
al months of illness. She was a
lifelong resident of Le Mars and
the vicinity.
Funeral services will be at 2
p.m. Thursday at St. John United
Church of Christ. Rev. Sherwood
Haas will officiate. Burial will be
in Le Mars Memorial cemetery
under direction of Mauer's funeral
home.
Flora Heniretta Voss was born
Feb. 19, 1881, on a farm near Le-
Mars, a daughter of the late Chris-
tian and Sarah Meyer Voss. Her
marriage to Edwin F. Phelan took
place Dec. 29, 1909, on a farm near
Le Mars.
She was a member of St. John
United Church of Christ and the
Ladies Aide.
Surviving are her husband, Ed-
win: a brother-in-law, Clarence
Grau of Le Mars; one sister-in-
law, Mrs. Arthur Voss of Huron,
S. D.; two sister-in-law on her
husband's side of the family, Mrs.
Ella Vinetta of Cherokee and
Mrs. Josephine Phelan of rural Le-
Mars, and many nieces and neph-
ews.
She was preceded in death by
her parents; a brother Arthur and
tiwo sisters, Mrs. Clarence Grau
and Mrs. Emma Neisius.
