Obit of Ruth Cenah Wika--

Ruth Cenah Wika, age 77, Raymond, the widow of Emmett Wika, died at Watertown hospital on Saturday evening, March 31,2001.
She was born at Raymond, the daughter of Arthur and Nellie (Gardner) Danforth on February 24,1924. She attended all 12 grades of school and graduated from Raymond High School. Following high school graduation she attended the Watertown Business University at Watertown.
She was united in marriage to Emmett Wika on December 14,1942 at St. Paul Lutheran Church at Clark. Mr Wika died June 6,2000.
During WWII the couple lived in Memphis, TN where she was employed as assistant bookkeeper at the Dr. Pepper headquarters. They later moved to Beaufort, SC where she worked at the US Naval Air Station as executive secretary to the Commander of the squadron that was stationed there along with being supervisor of Officer's records for over two years. Following Worl War II, they returned to Raymond. She served as clerk at the Raymond Post Office for five years before resigning to raise their family.
She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church at Raymond, where she also served as organist for many years, American Legion Auxiliary and the Rural Mail Carriers Association Auxillary, for over 50 years. Among her hobbies were sewing, crocheting, crafts, fishing and cross word puzzles. She also thoroughly enjoyed animals and wildlife.
Among survivors who are grateful for having shared her life are sons, Thayne and wife Stephanie of Aberdeen, and Mark and wife Candy of Aurora, CO. six grandchildren, Jeb, Cenah, Lacey and Tanner Wika all of Aberdeen and Aaryn and Andrew Wika of Aurora, CO; and a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Danforth of Omaha, NE.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; a brother, Charles Danforth and a sister Maude Hogrefe.
