Mary Irene Smith Horn Colon-Arvelo, 70, of Willard, and formerly of Sandusky and Port Clinton, passed away on Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, in Gaymont Nursing Center, Norwalk.
She was born in Port Clinton to John L. Smith and Mary L. (Neff) Smith.
Mary worked at jobs such as Underwood's Restaurant, Travelers Inn, and The Island House Hotel as a mixologist. Later in life she worked at H & R Block in Sandusky as a tax preparer and also at an adult group home. Mary's interests included working in her herb garden and she loved working with flowers. She had many other interests such as making floral arrangements for anyone that needed one, reading, playing Scrabble and being there for family. She loved family time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Mary was an encyclopedia of knowledge and did everything with a passion.

Survivors include her children, Carrie Sue Horn Silverwood, Kenneth R. Horn Jr., Sharon Ann (Steve) Perkins, and Jennifer L. Horn (Roger) Havens; two sisters, Sharon L. (Mike) Fought and Ruth P. (Roger) Havens; grandchildren, Kendra Horn, Jessica Tarres, Amanda and Ashley Hayes; great-grandchildren, Caleb, William, Annaliese, Ryleigh, Casey Hayes Houser; two uncles, Donald L. Smith of Sandusky, Thomas C. Neff Sr. of Port Clinton; former husband, Edwin Colon-Arvelo; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Mary is also survived by her many loving extended family and her life long friends. She will be greatly missed and loved by many.

Mary was preceded in death by her father, John in 2006; mother, Mary in 2001; sisters, Anna M. Smith, 1991, and Darlene L. Smith, 2004; past husband, Kenneth Ray Horn Sr.

Graveside services will be conducted 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, at Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton.
