George J. Kienzle Jr. 74, of 69 St. John's Circle, Lititz, died Tuesday night at Luther Acres after a brief illness. Born in Lancaster, he was a son of the late George J. Sr. and Cora Eichelberger Kienzle. He worked 25 years as a sales representative for WLAN radio in Lancaster. Previously, he worked in broadcasting for over 40 years with WHP in Harrisburg, WSBA in York, WILM and WDEL in Wilmington, Del., and also in Reading. A lifelong circus lover, he was a member of the Circus Fans Association of America and, according to a newspaper story written in 1981 he attended about 200 circus shows a year. He interviewed the late circus showman Clyde Beatty and later he interviewed the late Jack Mills of the Mills Brothers Circus. He also interviewed and became friends with the late Karl Wallenda of the Flying Wallendas family high-wire act. He also maintained a long friendship with Harold Ronk and Merle Evans, respectively, the singing ringmaster and the retired musical director for Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus. A life member of St. Stephens Evangelical Lutheran Church, he is survived by several nieces and nephews. (Intelligencer Journal - Feb 24, 1994)
