Services for Joe Buck Able, 70, 4404 Jones St., are pending at West Funeral Home. He died Feb. 5 at Guadalupe Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 16, 1919, at the Ed Burleson Ranch, west of Carlsbad. He attended school in Carlsbad. He was employed at Black River Village before enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1941. He received his discharge in 1945, and in 1946 he began his employment with the Tucson Gas and Electric Co. in Tucson, Ariz., retiring from there in 1984. He lived in Hobbs until moving to Carlsbad in September 1988.
Survivors include one step-son, Les Clifton, Milwaukie, Ore., two step-daughters, Sue McAlister, Bishop, Calif., Brenda Gaston, San Antonio, Texas; four brothers, John Able, Carlsbad, Doyle DeMoss, Washington state, Raymond DeMoss, Phoenix, Ariz., Roy DeMoss, Hobbs; one sister, Dorothy Estes, Jao, Ariz.; and four grandchildren.

Graveside service is to be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Carlsbad Cemetery for Joe B. Able, 70, 4404 Jones St., who died Sunday in Guadalupe Medical Center.
The service is to be conducted by the Rev. Rusty Smith of Guadalupe Christian Camp.
