John Conrad was the 14th and final child of Capt. Johann Philip Christian Enders and Anna Apolonia Degen Enders, German immigrants who came to Pennsylvania in 1764. Philip Christian was a veteran who served in the German Army during the Seven Years War and in the Pennsylvania Militia during the Revolutionary War. John Conrad married Elizabeth Whitman and they had 11 children. He was a farmer and lumberman.
