Bertha May Basham was born May 13, 1924 at Webb City, MO, the daughter of Byrum Huddleston and Verma Marie (Blanchard) Huddleston. She departed this life on July 6, 2010 at Birch Tree Place in Birch Tree, MO at the age of 86 years. She was united in marriage to Jack Basham on September 13, 1938 in Eminence, MO, and to this union six children were born.
Bertha was preceded in death by her parents, Byrum and Verma Huddleston; husband, Jack Basham; two grandchildren and one great grandchild. She is survived by her five sons: Jack Basham and wife, Carol, of Hillsboro, MO; Truman Basham and wife, Norma, of Glen Allen, MO; Ronald Basham and wife, Georgia, of Wappapello, MO; Dan Basham and wife, Sandy, of Winona, MO; and Jerry Basham and wife, Anna, of Winona, MO; one daughter, Phyllis Baker of Lebanon, MO; 24 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; many great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bertha gave her heart and life to Jesus and was baptized many years ago. She retired from Paramount Factory after 16 years of service. Bertha enjoyed quilting, crocheting and embroidering. She loved to sit and read a book for hours. She also loved spending time with her family and friends.She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services were held Friday, July 9, 2010 at the Duncan Funeral Chapel in Winona, MO with Rev. Russell Basham and Sonja Vermillion officiating. Interment was in New Eminence Cemetery in Eminence, MO under the direction of Duncan Funeral Homes of Winona, MO.
