Aug. 31, 1923 - Oct. 28, 2012

Ada Orphia Ball (nee Nunaly) passed away peacefully at her residence in Santa Rosa, Calif., on Oct. 28, 2012. She was born in Ione, Calif., on Aug. 31, 1923 to Leonard and Elizabeth Towle Nunaly. She attended school in Thornton and Galt. Ada lived with her brother's family in Placerville while attending Sierra College and then moved to Sacramento where she worked at Mather Air Force Base during World War II. She married Bernard Barlow "Jim" Ball on March 21, 1946, in Carson City, Nev. Jim was appointed to the California Highway Patrol and Ada concentrated on raising their family. They lived many years at Lake Tahoe, where she worked as a secretary and as a medical assistant. She and Jim returned to Placerville after they retired. She moved to Santa Rosa upon Jim's passing.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Ada was preceded in death by her brothers, Earl Nunaly and Leonard Nunaly. She is survived by her daughters, Laura Ball Griffin (Rick) of Reno, Nev., and Patricia Louise Long of Santa Rosa, Calif.; her grandchildren, James D. Murphy of Gardnerville, Nev., Sean D. Murphy of Tucson, Ariz., and Julia Elena Williams of Santa Cruz, Calif.; her great-grandsons, Ayden and Wyatt Murphy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial celebrating Ada's life will be held at a later date. Interment will be at the Shenandoah Valley Pioneer Family Cemetery in Plymouth, Calif. The family asks that any remembrances be made to the Sonoma County Humane Society in Ada's name.
