BETTENDORF - Melvin L. Claussen, of Bettendorf, died Wednesday, September 10, 2008, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.

Funeral services will be Saturday, September 13, 2008, at 11:30 a.m. at The Runge Mortuary.
Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Davenport or Genesis Hospice.

Melvin was born on Thursday, January 22, 1925 in Davenport, the son of Gustav and Grace (Swiegert) Claussen. He was united in marriage to Ethel M. Mills on November 25, 1961, in Rock Island. She died September 19, 1999. He served in the Army during World War II. He had been employed at J.I. Case Company as an accountant for 35 years prior to his retirement.

Those left to honor his memory include his sister, Lorraine Winter, Bettendorf; niece, Susan Conner, California, and her daughter, Kristin; niece, Sheryl Winterlin, Bettendorf, and her son, Mike, and his children, Mitch and Alyssa; nephew, Steven Winter, Davenport; special cousins, Gerald Claussen, Wisconsin, Richard Claussen, California, and Beverly Caviness, Iowa. His parents preceded him in death.
