West died at 6:40 a.m. Friday March 16, 1984, in Tipton County Memorial Hospital. He was born in Shamrock, Texas, April 16, 1909, a son of Troy and Rosa (Perkins) West. Oct. 31, 1937, he married Dorthy Dowden, who survives.
Also surviving are six daughters, Mary L. Pyke, Marcia A. Gain, Deborah Jean West, Lila Ennis and Susan Russell of Kokomo, and Cindy L. Clem* of Danville; two sons, Howard Troy West Jr. of Kokomo and Earl Thomas West of Arcadia; 20 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Rena Shackelford of Kokomo. Three daughters and two brothers preceded him in death.
West had been employed by Pinkerton's Inc. and self-employed.
