James Adam Jr was born 31 Oct 1809 in Scotland. More information on his parents and siblings is given on his brother David's memorial (FAG # 110418077). The family records have that he married Elizabeth Easton 4 Feb 1836 in Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland. His sons, James P and George, however, were born before that.

His children:
• James P Adam (1832, Scotland – 1872, IL) married Mary A. Paschell (1840's – 1867). They had one child Elizabeth Ethel (1866 – 1882)
• George Adam (9 May 1836 – 13 Apr 1839, Scotland)
• Elizabeth Easton Adams (24 Apr 1839, Scotland – 31 July 1883, Cantonment, Uncompahgre, Montrose Co, CO) married 4 Feb 1858 Gottwalt Charles Henry Szirkowsky Warrens (FAG #52919887). They had lots of kids.
• Jeanette Adam (FAG # 100118277) married James Nevile. She had two sons George and Eugene mentioned in her father's will.
• Catherine Adam (1844-1854)
• Ada McKenzie Adam (1846-1847)

LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF JAMES ADAMS
In the name of God Amen!
I, James Adams being of sound mind and disposing memory, do make, publish and declare this my last will and testament hereby revoking and annulling all former wills by me made.
First. It is my will that all my just debts and funeral expenses be fully paid.
Second. I give and bequeath to my daughter, Elizabeth Warrens, the sum of Four Thousand Dollars.
Third. I give and bequeath to my sister, Margaret P. Scully, the Sum of Three Hundred Dollars.
Fourth. I give an bequeath to my two Grandson's, George Neville and Eugene Neville, the sum of Four Thousand five Hundred dollars each, to be paid respectively when they obtain the age of Twenty One years; and in case either of my GrandSons should die before the attainment of the age of twenty one years, and leaving no wife, child or children, surviving them and in that case, the full amount of his bequest shall go to the survivor of them; and in case both of my said GrandSons should die before they attain the full age of twenty one years, and without having wives, or child, or children, surviving them, then my desire is that the property hereinabove bequeathed to them shall be equally divided between my chidren, Elizabeth Warrens and Alfred Adams or their descendents.
Fifth. I give, devise and bequeath all the rest residue and remainder of my Estate Real and Personal to my Son Alfred Adams.
Sixth. I hereby constitute and appoint my son Alfred Adams Guardian of the person, and property of my said GrandSons, George Neville and Eugene Neville, and hereby request Said Guardian to keep the mony (sic) of said wards invested on the best interest obtainable and use the interest arising therefrom for their support and care as far as practicable.
Lastly. I hereby constitute, and appoint my son Alfred Adams Executor of my last will and Testament. And having full confidence in his honesty and ability to discharge the trust herein reposed, it is my desire that he not be required to give bond as such Executor.
In testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand and affix my seal the 11th day of January A.D. 1883.

This states that he was born 31 October 1809 in Scotland and that he is about forty-four years of age; that he belongs to the British nation and owed allegiance to the Queen of Great Britain, that he landed at the city of New York in the United States o f America, on or about the thirtieth day of October 1833!
